Isidore Newman junior quarterback Eli Friend has been selected as the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club, Crescent City Sports, NASH ICON 106.1 FM and Friday Night Football Prep Player of the Week for week four of the prep football season, sponsored by the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

Friend completed 12 of 17 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns and rushed four times for 78 yards and two touchdowns as Newman defeated defending Non-Select Division III state champion Many 49-31.

Coached by Nelson Stewart, Friend will be honored at the year-end meeting of the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club on Tuesday, December 12 at The Cannery.

“He’s just a throw-back, a selfless kid who lifts up the offensive linemen,” Stewart said. “He’s great at the position and I’m proud to coach him. The best is in front of him.”

The next meeting of the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club is Tuesday, October 24 at noon, featuring Allstate Sugar Bowl Executive Director Jeff Hundley and Tulane Athletic Director Troy Dannen, among others.
