The New Orleans Pelicans announced Thursday that the team has waived guard Tim Frazier. The roster spot was opened to help make room for the imminent signing of Latvian guard Dairis Bertans, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 29-year old Bertans comes to the NBA from Italian club Olimpia Milano, where he has shot 54 percent from the international three-point line. Bertans, 6-4, 183, is older brother of San Antonio Spurs swingman Davis Bertans.

Frazier, 6-1, 170, who was claimed off waivers on Oct. 17, appeared in 47 games (17 starts) during the 2018-19 season with New Orleans, averaging 5.0 points, 4.4 assists and 2.9 rebounds. He has spent time previously with the 76ers, Blazers and Wizards.

New Orleans’ roster now stands at 15, including two-way player Trevon Bluiett.
