RUSTON – Louisiana Tech’s Joshua Mote and Reeves Blankenship were two of 114 FBS college football players named to the 2020 Wuerffel Trophy Watch List.

The Wuerffel Trophy, known as “College Football’s Premier Award for Community Service,” is presented each February in Fort Walton Beach.

Named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback from the University of Florida, Danny Wuerffel, the Wuerffel Trophy exists to honor college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society and inspire greater service in the world.

Mote, a redshirt junior at guard, and Blankenship, a redshirt junior at deep snapper, have accumulated the most community service hours on the football team while at LA Tech.

Mote has played in 17 games on the offensive line, including all 13 of the 2019 season. Blankenship was a Second Team All-Conference USA selection last year as the Bulldogs starting deep snapper.

The Wuerffel Trophy is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA) which encompasses the most prestigious awards in college football.
