LSU’s Kim Mulkey set to become highest paid women’s college basketball coach

LSU women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey has agreed to a 10-year, $32 million contract extension, the Baton Rouge Advocate first reported Thursday.
Expected to be approved by LSU’s board of supervisors Friday, the deal is the biggest for a coach in women’s college basketball history. Her original contract was for eight years, $22.5 million.
Mulkey will surpass the annual earnings of UConn’s Geno Auriemma and South Carolina’s Dawn Staley, both of which earn an estimated $3 million annually.
In just her second season at LSU, the 61-year old Mulkey won her fourth national championship and the school’s first title in 2022-23.
