BATON ROUGE – A trio of former LSU football standouts, including two that won national championships with the Tigers, are heading to the Super Bowl as Ricky Jean Francois, Donnie Jones and Jalen Mills will meet when the New England Patriots face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, February 4 in Minneapolis.

It’s the 17th year in a row that a former Tiger will play in the Super Bowl. That streak is the longest in the Southeastern Conference and dates back to Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002 when Kevin Faulk made his first Super Bowl appearance with the New England Patriots.

Jean Francois, a defensive lineman for the Patriots, will be making his second Super Bowl appearance, while Jones and Mills, both members of the Philadelphia Eagles, will be playing in the Super Bowl for the first time.

Jean Francois’ first Super Bowl appearance came in 2013 as a member of the San Francisco 49ers. In a game played in New Orleans, the 49ers lost to the Baltimore Ravens, 34-31.

Kevin Faulk holds the LSU record for most Super Bowl appearances (5) and Super Bowl titles (3).
