After a disappointing opening season loss to Riverdale, Livingston Collegiate was looking to get on track Thursday night at Joe Brown Stadium.

The Wolves accomplished the task with a workmanlike 22-12 victory over Higgins. Riverdale surprised Livingston Collegiate 14-7 in week one.

Higgins scored on the third play of the game to take a 6-0 lead.

After the Wolves took a 7-6 lead, Higgins answered to make it 12-7 by the end of the first quarter.

Livingston answered with a touchdown and the 2-point conversation to make it 15-12 at the half. The Wolves put it away with a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Benjamin Anthony led the way at quarterback for the Wolves, running for a touchdown and the 2-point conversion. Running back Alfred Scott scored the other two touchdowns for Livingston Collegiate.

Wolves coach Devon Francois was pleased with the effort overall.

“We still have things to clean up,” Francois said. “We fumbled a center-quarterback exchange. We fumbled a shotgun snap as well. Once we eliminate those mistakes, we can be a good team. Today looks a lot better than last week. We did not have the penalties we had last week. I was really impressed with our special teams. Tylen Coleman had a big night returning kickoffs. Defensively, our linebackers played lights-out. They were real good.”

Livingston will host Douglass next Friday for Homecoming at 7 p.m. at Joe Brown Stadium.

“Douglass has a good quarterback who has started under Corey McCloud for a while now,” Francois said. “We know them well and they know us well. It’s becoming a slow but sure rivalry. Corey is a great friend of mine. We are really looking forward to it. This will be a fast-paced game. They are better and putting some things together. We have to continue to improve to be successful.”
