LHSAA baseball state playoffs open Monday

The LHSAA state baseball playoffs begin today with five area teams in action.

In Class 5A, Chalmette (11-17) faces a very tough challenge as the 32nd-seeded Owls travel to Zachary Youth Park to take on top seed Zachary (31-2) at 6:30 p.m.

Ponchatoula (18-12) makes the long trip to Bossier City as the 24th-seeded Green Wave take on ninth seed Parkway (23-8) at 5 p.m.

Hahnville (18-15) is a dangerous 25th seed which plays at eighth-seed Central (21-10-1) at 5 p.m.

Northshore (29-3) is the seventh seed and the Panthers host 26th seed East Ascension (17-16) Monday at 6:30 p.m.

In Class 4A, eighth-seed Belle Chasse (23-9) plays host to 25th seed Morgan City (15-19) at 6 p.m.
