Daniel Batcho of LA Tech

RUSTON – After helping Louisiana Tech garner wins over Middle Tennessee and Liberty, Bulldog forward Daniel Batcho was voted as the Conference USA Player of the Week on Monday.

Batcho averaged 18.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks while shooting 60.0 percent from the field as the Bulldogs collected two victories on national tv against the CUSA preseason favorites, defeating the Blue Raiders, 60-52, followed by an 80-76 overtime win against the Flames.

In Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the Paris, France native registered his CUSA-leading seventh double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds. He followed that up with a 21-point, 9-rebound effort in LA Tech’s CUSA home opener.

Batcho currently ranks first in CUSA and top 20 in the country in rebounds per game (10.2) and blocks per game (2.25). He also heads the league in field goal percentage (56.6).

This marks the first weekly honor for the newcomer.

Batcho and the Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 20 when they travel to take on Jacksonville State. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
