NEW ORLEANS – As the Tulane men’s basketball team begins preparation for the non-conference portion of the 2018-19 schedule, the eight-team field and tournament bracket for the 2018 Gulf Coast Showcase has been finalized, according to an announcement by the event’s managing company, bd Global, on Thursday. Games will take place Nov. 19-21 at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida.

Tulane will tipoff the first game of the tournament on Monday, November 19 at 10 a.m. (CT) against South Dakota State, a program that won 28 games last year and has won three consecutive Summit League championships leading to automatic NCAA Tournament bids. The meeting will be the first all-time between the Green Wave and Jackrabbits.

Depending on Monday’s result, the Wave will face off against the winner or loser of the UC Irvine and UTSA first-round matchup, with the semifinal matchup set for a 4 p.m., tip and the backdraw contest slated for 10 a.m. Tulane is 2-0 all-time against UC Irvine, including an 86-65 home win over the Anteaters on Jan. 2, 1993. The Green Wave are 3-0 against the Roadrunners, with the last meeting resulting in a 68-56 home victory on Dec. 19, 2012.

The other side of the bracket includes Louisiana-Lafayette, Colorado State, Toledo and FGCU.
