Glenbrook blanks Riverside to advance to Sulphur

No. 3 seed Glenbrook advanced to the state tournament in Sulphur next week with a 5-0 shutout victory over No. 11 Riverside Academy in the Select Division IV quarterfinals Thursday.

Hayden Harmon pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just four hits. Harmon walked four and struck out 11. Harmon added a double at the plate.

Maddox Mandino went 3 for 4 with three RBI and Landry Powell tripled, doubled and drove in two runs to pace the offense.

Glenbrook (24-8) broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the bottom of the third on an RBI double by Powell and a two-run homer by Mandino.

The Apaches added two insurance runs in the fourth inning on an RBI triple by Powell and an RBI double by Mandino.

Cameron Matt had two hits for the Rebels. Luke Hymel started and took the loss for Riverside (20-9-1), going two and a third innings, allowing three runs on three hits with a strikeout. Ayden Bullock pitched the final three and two-third innings.

Glenbrook will play No. 2 seed Ascension Catholic next Tuesday at 2 p.m. at McMurry Park in the semifinals. The Bulldogs handled No. 7 Central Private 10-0 in five innings.
