Girls Bowling: Chapelle finishes unbeaten season; AOL also playoff-bound

Archbishop Chapelle closed out an undefeated regular-season with a 24-3 victory Thursday over Mount Carmel at Bowlero Kenner.

The Chipmunks (12-0), likely to be the No. 4 seed in the girls bracket when it is announced Monday, dropped only 22 of a possible 324 points in the regular season.

Olivia Bares had games of 200 and 222 to lead Chapelle, which will be one of four girls teams to finish the regular season undefeated, along with H.L. Bourgeois, Dutchtown and Albany.

Chapelle also got high games from Alexandra Young (211), Taylor Bourdonnay (202) and Mia Bella Harvey (201).

Gabrielle Howard had a 447 series and Valeska Mora claimed all three points for Mount Carmel (5-5), which entered Thursday at 19th in the power rankings, just outside of the playoffs.

The first and second rounds of the girls playoffs are March 27 at Bowlero.

Academy of Our Lady 22, Cabrini 5: The Penguins will also be playoff-bound after a win over the Crescents at Westside Lanes in Harvey.

AOL (8-3), which could be anywhere from No. 12-14 in the final rankings, was led by a 518 series from anchor Emily Barrios. The Penguins had a 2,567 team series.

Cabrini (3-8) got a 176 opening game from Jenna Trabeaux and two points each from Zoe Sayles and Addison Virgadamo.

Fisher 19, Ursuline 8: The Gators broke into the win column on the final day of the season, defeating the Lions at Westside.

Layla Boudreaux had a middle-game 133 to lead Fisher (1-10). Isabella Price’s opening-game 127 was the best of the day for Ursuline (1-9).
