University Lab, Parkview Baptist win to set up rematch in final

The LHSAA Girls Basketball championship week is underway in Hammond.

In the Select Division III semifinals, No. 4 University Lab closed in winning fashion in a 50-42 victory Monday over No. 9 St. Thomas Aquinas at the Pride Roofing University Center.

Tied 42-42, the Cubs closed the game on an 8-0 game to advance to the final.

Taylor Lee led the Cubs with 17 points while Kennedy Aldridge added 15 points.

University Lab (24-11) will play for the title against a familiar opponent in District 9-3A rival and defending state champion Parkview Baptist Thursday at 6 p.m. The second-seeded Eagles advanced with a 65-46 win over No. 3 Holy Savior Menard.

Addy Bernhard led Parkview Baptist with 26 points while Anna Richardson had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

University Lab defeated Parkview Baptist 58-45 on Jan. 23 in district play.

In Non-Select Division IV, top seed and defending state champion Oakdale advanced to the championship game with a convincing 57-50 victory over No. 6 White Castle.

Kaylea Bradley led the Warriors with 24 points while Emani Young scored 17 points.

Cambrieion Link (20) and Kelsey Robinson led White Castle (22-12) with 21 points while Cambrieion Link added 20 points.

Oakdale (27-7) will face a rematch with top seed Arcadia in the final Thursday at 4 p.m.

Arcadia (31-3) handled No. 5 Lakeview 60-29 Monday.

In the Select Division V semifinals, second seeded JS Clark Leadership Academy 50 defeated No. 3 Family Christian 36.

Tristianie Albert led the Bulldogs with 15 points while Erianna Ned added 10 points.

Aaliyah Gaddis led Family Christian with 18 points while Traeshira Brown had 10 points.

JS Clark Leadership (23-6) advances to the championship game Thursday at noon against the winner of today’s semifinal matchup pitting No. 1 Oak Hill against No. 5 Plainview with that game set for 2:45 this afternoon.
