Gauthier Amedee edges Iowa, wins pool at American Legion World Series

The magical run continues for Gauthier Amedee.

The Gonzales-based American Legion Louisiana and Mid-South champion edged Iowa, 3-2, Sunday to remain unbeaten at the American Legion World Series at Shelby, NC.

Gauthier Amedee scored all three runs in the first inning and held on for the victory.

Chad Kennedy got the win in relief, going four innings, allowing just one run on two hits. Harrison Hutson started and went two innings, allowing one run on one hit, walking two and striking out one. Layton Lee pitched one shutout inning.

Carson Dabadie and Reid Bouchereau each drove in a run for Gauthier Amedee (44-6). Brayden Caskey and Jack Merrifield each had a hit and a run scored. Connor Crabill went the distance and took the loss for Iowa (13-5), allowing three unearned runs on four hits, striking out four.

Gauthier Amedee won its pool at 3-0 to advance to the semifinals at 6 p.m. Monday. The semifinals will be televised by ESPNU.
