Zalance Heard

Lance Heard has found a new college football home.

After entering the transfer portal January 2, the former five-star signee from last year’s LSU recruiting class has decided to join the Tennessee Volunteers. He visited both Tennessee and Oklahoma while also considering Ole Miss.

The 6-6, 340-pound product of Neville High School played 283 snaps in 12 games for the Tigers as a true freshman this past season, earning one start against Army.

His most likely future at LSU may have been inside at offensive guard, considering starters Will Campbell and Emery Jones both return for the 2024 campaign. A talented tackle prospect, Heard was unwilling to wait his turn until possibly the 2025 season.

The No. 2 overall prospect in Louisiana’s 2023 class was the third rated offensive tackle in the nation.

In Knoxville, Heard will face competition from seniors Dayne Davis (right tackle) and John Campbell (left tackle).
