Tulane has added former Kentucky free safety Jalen Geiger via the transfer portal.

The Columbia, South Carolina native was labeled the No. 2 cornerback prospect in the 2019 class. He was twice named All-State at Spring Valley High School.

In 2023, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound senior was injured in a Week 3 loss to Georgia and never got back into UK’s rotation. He did return a fumble 69 yards for a score against Ball State.

Geiger had 89 defensive snaps this past season, allowing only three catches on four targets. A film room junkie, he also returned a 31-yard interception for a touchdown against Vanderbilt in 2021.

Some other players that are on Tulane’s radar from the transfer portal who have not found a destination yet:

Edge rusher DeShaun Batiste (6-2, 261) Troy

He recorded 40 quarterback sacks during his final two seasons with John F. Kennedy in New Orleans. Batiste was twice named All-State and a two-time District MVP. He considered Tulane, Southern Miss and South Alabama prior to signing with the Trojans in ’23.

Cornerback Caleb Ransaw (6-0, 187) Troy

The senior is another Trojan who could follow coach Jon Sumrall to Tulane. He made 14 starts in 2023 recording 51 tackles and 6.0 tackles for loss.

Defensive back Chris Rodgers (6-2, 216)

The freshman safety was a three-star signee in 2023 from Corinth, Mississippi.

Wide receiver Shazz Preston (6-0, 202) Alabama

The St. James High School product was the third ranked receiver by ESPN in the 2022 class.

Wide receiver Terez Traynor (6-3, 205) Idaho

The senior originally signed with Western Kentucky. He grabbed 25 passes for 381 yards and two scores this season with a season-best six catches for 71 yards vs. Cal.

Wide receiver Jaylon Griffin (6-3, 192) UCF

The senior out of Huntsville, Texas spent the past three seasons with the Knights.
