DeArica Pryor

NEW ORLEANS – DeArica Pryor earned Southland Player of the Week honors for a second time this season and a fifth time in her career after posting her first double-double during the last week of games for the New Orleans Privateers women’s basketball team.

Pryor averaged 27 points over two games. Last Thursday, she poured in 22 points as the Privateers avenged a home loss against Northwestern State when they went to Prather Coliseum and won 80-57. The senior guard also had five rebounds and four assists.

Two days later, Pryor achieved a season-high in points and a career-high in rebounds as the Privateers rallied back to force overtime against A&M-Commerce. Pryor had 32 points, three shy of tying her career-best. She also had 13 rebounds for her first double-double in a Privateer uniform.

The first Player of the Week nod Pryor earned this season was for her two-game performance against Tarleton and Alcorn State to wrap up non-conference play. Pryor averaged 19 points and 5.5 rebounds per game that week.

Pryor notched her 46th career game of double-figures in points on Saturday. Of those games, Saturday marked the 19th time she hit at least 20 points in a game. Also for the week, Pryor was highly efficient as she shot 56 percent from the field and 60 percent from three-point range.

For her Privateer career, Pryor is now at 977 points. With 23 more, she would become the 18th student-athlete in program history to achieve 1,000 points on the Lakefront.
