NEW ORLEANS – Crescent City Sports’ live streaming coverage of high school sports continues Monday with whip-around coverage of crossover matches between teams from the Baton Rouge and New Orleans regions.

Live coverage from Bowlero Kenner begins at 3:25 p.m., with matches scheduled to begin at 3:35. CCS’ Ken Trahan and Lenny Vangilder will describe the action along with special guests throughout the afternoon.

Seven varsity matches in total will take place, each with a Baton Rouge region team taking on a team from New Orleans, with the CCS cameras focusing primarily on three matches: East Ascension-Archbishop Rummel, Dutchtown-Brother Martin and Catholic-Holy Cross.

East Ascension and Rummel are both 5-0. The Spartans reached the state semifinals last season and have a 17-match regular-season winning streak, while the Raiders, with four 200-average bowlers in their lineup, are looking to make their deepest playoff run since reaching the championship match in 2019.

Dutchtown (2-1) and Brother Martin (3-1) are the only two Louisiana programs to roll a 4,000 team series and could again produce some of the highest scores of the day. Griffins senior Preston West has set a state record for average each of the last two seasons at 238, while the Crusaders – seeking an unprecedented sixth consecutive state title – have won three straight after a season-opening loss to Holy Cross and are one of three teams in the state this season with a team series above 3,600.

Along with EA and Rummel, Holy Cross (5-0) is one of six remaining unbeaten teams in Division I (Louisiana high school boys bowling is split into two divisions for the first time in 2024). Catholic (3-2) has a program that is no stranger to success, reaching the state championship match three times since 2017.

Rummel is second, Holy Cross third, East Ascension seventh and Brother Martin 13th in the latest unofficial LHSAA power rankings in Division I.

Three other Division I matches are on Monday’s schedule in Kenner: St. Amant-John Ehret, Denham Springs-Destrehan and Central-St. Augustine. In Division II, the lone match on the docket pairs St. Michael the Archangel against the current No. 1 ranked team in Division II, Archbishop Shaw.

The Crescent City Sports team is in its 13th season of producing live broadcasts for television and internet, having produced nearly 500 live streams since 2012, and is continuing its extensive commitment to prep sports coverage on its website for 2023-24. All written and video content on CCS is always free and does not require a subscription.
