Cody Schaffer, Cadence Chesterman, Allison Deffes named New Orleans area prep bowling Outstanding Players
After going unbeaten for a third consecutive year in the regular season, Brother Martin dominates the New Orleans Region All-District bowling teams named Tuesday.
Junior Cody Schaffer of the Crusaders is once again the Outstanding Player in the New Orleans region’s District I, earning the honor for a second consecutive season.
Schaffer averaged 225 with a high game of 279 and a high series of 749. Schaffer fired five 700 series.
Five of Brother Martin’s six starters comprise the District I All-District team, including Jonathan Fernandez, Drew Gardner, Hunter Dunn and Will Oertling.
Christian Kelch of Pearl River, who averaged 217 and had a high game of 278 and a high series of 729, is the other member of the squad.
The District I second team includes three Jesuit bowlers, including Jake Stiegler, Alex Barron and Trent Greco. Bryan Arena of Holy Cross, Sebastian Maher of Chalmette and Cameron Kelch of Pearl River comprise the remainder of the second team.
The District II first-team and second teams are comprised almost exclusively of bowlers from Archbishop Shaw and Archbishop Rummel.
Cadence Chesterman of Archbishop Shaw is the Outstanding Player. Chesterman averaged 205 with a high game of 269 and high series of 710. He is joined on the squad by teammates Quentin Bullie and Gage Perrin. The other three members are Archbishop Rummel’s Ruben Gendron, Luke Hightower and Quin Cadella.
Shaw has four members on the second team as well, including Sam Picnot, Gage Dinicola, Josh Freeman, Joseph Jimenez and Robert Traylor. The others include Sam Picnot of Holy Rosary and Cameron Falgoust of Archbishop Rummel.
In girls competition, Allison Deffes of Chalmette is the Outstanding Player in the New Orleans region. Deffes averaged 183 with a high game of 253 and a high series of 627. Deffes is joined on the first team by league champion members Erin Burkart and Danielle Poussard of Academy of Our Lady, along with three Archbishop Chapelle keglers, including Bailey Hymel, Jessica Ladd and Sarah Rubi.
The second team includes three members of AOL, including Lauren Michel, Lauryn Hartsell and Linzie Bladsacker. Cabrini bowlers Jaya Jenson and Kayla Gallagher, along with Bailey James of Holy Rosary.
