The hapless Cleveland Browns, currently with a 2-5-1 mark this season, have made their fourth head coaching change since 2012.

After losing their 25th consecutive road game (one shy of an NFL record), owner Jimmy Haslim swept the head coach and offensive coordinator out the door. The rumored inside power struggle between head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley led to the joint dismissal.

The Browns, winner of just three games under Jackson in the past 40 contests, are seeking someone who can help franchise quarterback Baker Mayfield reach his full potential. Two names that have surfaced are current Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley and the previous Sooners boss, 58-year old Bob Stoops.

Cleveland handed the keys for now to new interim head coach Gregg Williams, the former Saints assistant who was 17-31 as a head coach at Buffalo (2001-’03). Williams served as defensive coordinator for New Orleans from 2009-’11 and was a focal point of the BountyGate scandal. His relationship with Sean Payton went sour, necessitating change.

Browns running back coach Freddie Kitchens has been tabbed as the interim offensive coordinator. Kitchens, a quarterback at Alabama from 1995-’97, has never been a coordinator at any level.
