Boys Soccer: Bonnabel, Rummel, Belle Chasse win on final day of regular season

Area Boys Prep Soccer Report for Wednesday, Feb. 3

It was the final day of the regular season Tuesday in boys soccer with playoff pairings set to be announced Wednesday.

In a well played match, Bonnabel edged East Jefferson 1-0 to win the District 8-II championship.

The game was scoreless for a half before Sebastian Ramos scored the game-winner in the second half on an assist from Andres Santos.

Bonnabel (8-4) closes the regular season with four straight wins. East Jefferson finishes the regular season 3-7-4. The Bruins were 17th while the Warriors were seventh in the most recent LHSAA Division II power rankings.

Archbishop Rummel closed out its regular season with a convincing 6-0 victory over Hahnville in Metairie.

The Raiders scored three goals in each half.

Sophomore Tobo Takpor continued his brilliant season, recording a hat trick and he now has 20 goals scored. Freshman Trey LeJeune, sophomore CJ Koppeis and junior Eric Ochoa each added a goal for the Raiders.

Rummel (12-8-3) was 26th in the most recent LHSAA Division I power rankings while Hahnville closed out its regular season at 4-10.

Belle Chasse closed out its regular season with an exciting 4-3 win over Archbishop Shaw.

Once again, sophomore George Martinez was the star, recording a hat trick for the Cardinals. Senior Tyler Furey scored the other goal for the Cardinals. Junior Denalie Cortes had three assists. Senior Dylan Hopstetter had eight saves in goal.

Belle Chasse (12-7), ranked tenth in the LHSAA Division II power rankings, awaits its playoff assignment, as do the Eagles (11-5), who were 14th in Division II.
