Boys Bowling: Jesuit defeats Rummel; BM wins on senior day; Hahnville gets first win

Jesuit broke away from a tie after two games to defeat Archbishop Rummel 18-9 in boys bowling action Thursday at AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner.

The Raiders won five of eight points in the first game and the Blue Jays came back to win five in game two.

Rummel took a 44-pin edge in total pins into the final game, but Jesuit stepped up with a 1,170 team game in the finale, led by William Adams’ 266, Jonathan Cho’s 208 and Preston Roark’s 200.

Adams’ 650 series and Cho’s 210 average for two games paced Jesuit (8-1), which bounced back from its first loss of the season Monday against Dutchtown.

Blake Caire’s 590 series was one of five above 500 for Rummel (5-3).

Brother Martin 27, Kenner Discovery 0: The Crusaders celebrated senior day with a shutout victory over the Swamp Owls at Colonial Lanes in Harahan.

Seniors Ashton Catalinotto, Kade Chatelain and Jack Nunes led a team effort in which all nine bowlers saw action and six had 200 games. Four of those came in an opening 1,203 game for Brother Martin (7-1), led by Catalinotto’s 238 and Jacob Vangilder’s 232.

Brother Martin finished with a 3,351 team series as Catalinotto had a 654 and Sam Vollenweider rolled a 594, including a 227 middle game.

Judah Vogel’s final-game 158 was the best of the day for Kenner Discovery (6-2).

Hahnville 19½, St. Augustine 7½: The Tigers, competing in bowling for the first time in 2023, earned their first victory in program history at AMF.

Tyron Martin’s final-game 133 was the best of the day for Hahnville (1-8).

Diego Bagneris’ middle-game 137 paced St. Augustine (0-7).

Archbishop Shaw 26, East Jefferson 1: The Eagles swept the first two games in an easy victory over the Warriors at Westside Lanes in Harvey.

Riley Elwood had games of 230 and 204 to lead Shaw (7-1), which used all 10 bowlers on its roster. Garrett Alello (222), Alex Gaitan (219) and Joshua Collins (214) also contributed 200 games.

Gunner Frazier’s final-game 171 delivered the lone point for East Jefferson (0-8), which also got a 500 series from Cornelius Piper.

Patrick Taylor 17, Holy Cross 10: The Tigers from Avondale won a tightly contested match with the Tigers from Gentilly at AMF.

Patrick Taylor (7-2) split six singles matches while capturing total pins in the first and last game. In game two, it won four singles matches but Holy Cross (4-4) took the total.

Reese Elwood’s 498 series led Patrick Taylor. Cody Miller had a 555 series, including a 214 final game, to pace Holy Cross.

Belle Chasse 17, St. Therese 10: The Cardinals took six points in each of the first two games in a victory over the Phoenix at Westside.

Evan Shepherd had a 200 middle game and a 477 series to lead Belle Chasse (3-4).

Logan LeJeune’s 589 series included a 224 final game for St. Therese (2-5).
