Boys Bowling: Brother Martin remains unbeaten; Jesuit, Rummel, Kenner Discovery win

Defending state champion Brother Martin won Monday for the ninth time in as many matches in 2022, defeating Patrick Taylor 23-4 at Westside Lanes in Harvey.

The Crusaders rolled a 3,593 team series that included a 1,280 middle game.

Will Buras fired a 257 second game as part of a 608 series to lead Brother Martin, while Carson Colletti rolled games of 215 and 246, Ricky Carmona had games of 235 and 221 and Kade Chatelain had a team-best 223 final game.

Patrick Taylor (6-3) lost despite a season-high 3,140 team series. Preston Jones had a season-high 720 series to lead the Tigers, while Jake McInnis had a 565 set.

Jesuit 27, East Jefferson 0: The Blue Jays got off to a hot start in blanking the Warriors at AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner.

Jesuit (7-2) shot a 1,240 opening game en route to a 3,473 team series.

Gary Sims (235), Luke Wood (234) and William Carpenter (232) paced the Blue Jays in the opening game. Collin Pearce (228) and Joshua Barraza (222) led the way in game two, While Carpenter’s 255 and Sims’ 229 topped the final game effort.

East Jefferson (0-8) got a 166 opening game from Ethan Jenkins and a 165 middle game from Cornelius Piper.

Archbishop Rummel 26, St. Therese 1: The Raiders handled the Phoenix at AMF.

Rummel (6-2) used all 10 bowlers on its roster, with no one bowling all three games. Ben Mayer had a 209 middle game for the Raiders and Hayden Cantillo closed with a 200.

St. Therese (2-7) was led by Ryan Hebert’s 429 series.

Kenner Discovery 17, Pearl River 10: The Swamp Owls held off the Rebels at AMF.

Kenner Discovery (4-5) led 9-7 and had an eight-pin lead heading into the final game. The teams split the final six individual matches, but a 774-764 edge in total pins gave the Swamp Owls the two points in the final game and preserved the three-point “super total” bonus.

Chris West had a 444 series to lead Kenner Discovery. Pearl River (3-5) was paced by Izaiah Auglair’s 487 series.
