Bowling: Shaw, Chapelle take easy victories

Archbishop Shaw clinched the match after two games and rolled to a 25-2 victory over Pearl River in boys bowling action Tuesday at Westside Lanes.

The Eagles (3-1) led 7-1 after the first game and had an insurmountable 14-2 lead heading into the final game.

Gage Perrin helped get Shaw off to a fast start with a 226 opening game. He closed with a 209 to complete a 586 series.

Perrin was one pin better than Cameron Kelch, who had a 585, including a 233 second game, to lead Pearl River (1-3).

Both teams are back in action Thursday at Bowling USA in Slidell, as Shaw faces Salmen, while Pearl River takes on Holy Rosary.

Archbishop Chapelle 24, Chalmette 3: In girls action at Westside, the Chipmunks remained unbeaten in five matches with a convincing win over the Owls.

Left-hander Jessica Ladd continued her hot streak with a fourth consecutive 600 series, rolling a 628 on games of 209-206-213. Sarah Rubi had a 538 set, including games of 210 and 204.

Allison Deffes fired a 200 second game as part of a 531 series to lead Chalmette (0-4), which had just five bowlers in its lineup. Kayla Hall collected two of the Owls’ three points as part of a 423 set.

Chapelle meets Kenner Discovery Thursday at AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner while Chalmette is off until next week.
