Area Prep Basketball Report for Sunday, Feb. 4

Archbishop Shaw tuned up for its District 10-4A showdown Tuesday night at home against Landry with a convincing 91-66 victory Saturday over Walker.

Senior Chris Creppel reached the 1,000 point mark for his outstanding career in the game.

The Eagles (20-2) are home Tuesday night against the Buccaneers with the district title on the line.

East St. John defeated Lighthouse Private Academy 73-63 Saturday in Pensacola.

The Wildcats took a 14-13 lead after one quarter before a big second quarter expanded the advantage to 35-22 at halftime. The Stingrays fought back to tie the game 45-45 heading to the final quarter when East St. John outscored Lighthouse 28-18 for the win.

Jahyi Jones led a balanced Wildcats’ attack with 21 points, Charles Rayfield scored 16 points, Lorenzo Zeno had 14 points and Ky’Van Fobb scored 11 points.

East St. John (18-10) returns to District 7-5A action, entertains Central Lafourche Tuesday night.
