Basketball: Ponchatoula, Mandeville stay unbeaten, Sarah Reed victorious Wednesday

Area Prep Basketball Report for Thursday, Nov. 30

In boys action Wednesday, defending state champion Ponchatoula remained unbeaten with an easy 78-48 win over Scotlandville.

Santa Clara commit Allen Graves led the way, as usual, for the Green Wave. Graves scored 26 points while Jeremiah Lewis added 13 points. Cory Jackson finished with 10 points for the Green Wave.

Ponchatoula (3-0) returns to action next Tuesday, hosting Lutcher.

The Hornets (2-1) will entertain East Ascension next Monday.

Mandeville remained unbeaten with a 65-61 win over Covington.

Senior Chauncey Aubert led the Skippers with 21 points while junior Brayden Brumfield scored 20 points. Senior Jack Marcello added 17 points.

Mandeville (4-0) returns to action this evening against Fontainebleau at Northlake Christian at 7:30 p.m.

Covington fell to 2-2 with the loss.

Sarah Reed won at Kenner Discovery 69-52.

Jamal Matthew led the Olympians with 17 points and eight assists, Ky’lil Wilson scored 14 points, Dontroy Thorne had 13 points and seven rebounds and Parnell Watts contributed 11 points.

Sarah Reed (6-3) will host Higgins next Monday.

The Swamp Owls (0-4) will travel to Ascension Christian Friday.
