Basketball: Holy Cross avenges loss with 83-78 win at Bonnabel

Area Boys Prep Basketball Report for Saturday, Dec. 22

Friday was a nice night for Holy Cross.

Two weeks after losing to a very good Bonnabel team, the Tigers avenged the defeat with a solid 83-78 win over the Bruins at The Bear Trap in Kenner Friday night.

Holy Cross came out hot, taking a 25-15 lead after one quarter behind eight points from Jeremy Lindsay. The Bruins dominated the second quarter to tie the game 33-33 by halftime as Lindsay finished the half with 12 points. Holy Cross reclaimed the lead 58-53 after three quarters as Lindsay scored nine more points and then the two sides played on even terms in a closely contested final quarter as the Tigers claimed the win.

Lindsay finished with 27 points, Kalil Thomas had 21, Tyler Kirkwood had 13 points and Jason Chan finished with 10 points for the Tigers (13-4). The Tigers have now won four straight games.

Donte Mitchell topped the Bruins (11-3) with 24 points while Rodney Munson had 23 for Bonnabel.

The Bruins had beaten the Tigers 69-60 at the East Ascension Tournament in Gonzales.

Holy Cross returns to action next Thursday, Dec. 27 at Lakeshore at 4:30 p.m. while Bonnabel takes time off before facing Grace King on Jan. 8.
