Basketball: Bonnabel, Brother Martin boys and John Curtis, Hannan girls among Thursday

Area Prep Basketball Report for Friday, Nov. 22

Bonnabel opened its season and opened defense of its Grace King Tournament title with a convincing 60-32 victory over M.L. King Charter.

The Bruins led from start to finish as W. Allen led the way with 15 points. K. James had 11 points and T. Williams finished with 10 points. Bonnabel has won the tournament three straight years.

Brother Martin made it 2-0 in the tournament with an easy 82-32 win over Livingston Collegiate.

Army commit T.J. Small had 20 points, eight rebounds and five steals while Brock Ranlett had 13 points, six steals and five rebounds. Chase Patin had 13 points, five rebounds and three steals.

Three-time defending Division I state champion John Curtis Christian opened its season in solid fashion with a 45-33 victory over Booker T. Washington in River Ridge.

Tulane commit Jerkaila Jordan was her usual brilliant self. Jordan pumped in 17 points, pulled down nine rebounds, had eight steals, blocked five shots and dished out three assists. Terren Coffil added nine points and Jane Wright had six points and six rebounds.

The Patriots will host Mandeville Saturday at noon while the Lions will play at Karr on Dec. 2 at 6 p.m.

Archbishop Hannan went on the road and edged Dunham 33-32 as Catherine Chuter scored 12 points while Molly Banta finished with 10 points for the Hawks.

Hannan (1-1) will play Fontainebleau at 11 a.m. Monday morning in the Slidell Tournament.
