Baseball: Slidell holds off Loranger

Area Prep Baseball Report for Thursday, March 3

Slidell edged Loranger 5-4 at home Wednesday night.

The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead with two runs in the bottom of the first inning and a run in the second inning. The Wolves cut the deficit to 3-1 with a run in the top of the third but the Tigers answered with a pair in the bottom of the third to take a 5-1 lead. Loranger rallied with two runs in the fourth and a run in the fifth but fell short.

While the Wolves committed three errors, Slidell overcame five errors for the victory.

Junior Trey Flettrich led the offense with two hits and two RBI while junior Eason Lymuel also had a pair of hits. Sophomore Corey Cousin picked up the win, going four innings, one earned run on just one hit. Cousin walked five but struck out 10.

Slidell returns to action Friday against Covenant Christian while Loranger (0-5) will host Franklinton next Tuesday.
