Baseball: Mike Scanlon leaving De La Salle for top assistant job at St. Paul’s

De La Salle head baseball coach Mike Scanlon is leaving De La Salle to be the Associate Head Coach at St. Paul’s under new Wolves head coach Kristian Gibbe.

Scanlon spent five seasons as the head coach at De La Salle. Scanlon previously served as the Cavaliers junior varsity head coach at 2016-17.

Under Scanlon, De La Salle reached the Division II quarterfinals in 2022 and the Select Division II quarterfinals in 2023. De La Salle lost in the regional round of the Select Division II playoffs to St. Thomas More this season.

Scanlon, who played at Mandeville, will be close to home at St. Paul’s as a north shore resident.

Gibbe, who played at St. Paul’s and won a state championship as a player in 1999, also served as a top assistant to Mick Nunez most recently and was on the staff of the St. Paul’s team which won the 2019 state championship.

De La Salle has begun the search for a new head coach.
