Area Prep Baseball Report for Tuesday, March 23

In Covington, visiting Lakeshore shutout Northlake Christian 4-0.

Eli Lirette put on a show Monday, pitching a complete-game shutout for the win and he was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate.

Lakeshore (9-8) won its third straight game and the Titans are scheduled to play at Covenant Christian tonight at 7 p.m., weather permitting, while Northlake Christian (4-10) will travel to Dunham Thursday at 6 p.m.

Make it five straight wins for Franklinton.

The Demons blanked Varnado 12-0 at home.

Daylin Sigler pitched four shutout innings to pick up the win before Trayshun Warren finished up with a scoreless frame.

Franklinton (14-2) is schedule to play a big game against talented St. Thomas Aquinas tonight at 6:30, weather permitting.

Newman won at Avenger Field, defeating Belle Chasse 6-3.

The game was tied 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth when Newman struck for three runs, with the go-ahead run scoring on an RBI single by Hayden Dolese.

IV Guillot (2-2) pitched six innings, allowing three runs on three hits to pick up the victory. Guillot struck out eight. Pike Philibert came on to pitch the seventh inning, picking up the save. Philibert also homered for Newman in the first inning.

Guillot helped his cause with a pair of hits, while Hayden Dolese and Jack Robert also had two hits each for the Greenies. Robert and Michael Baumer each drove in a pair of runs.

Reed Maples took the loss for the Cardinals, allowing six runs on eight hits in six innings. Maples struck out three and walked one.
