It was a important Friday evening for Riverside Academy.

Just a couple of weeks ago, the Rebels were languishing at 12-12 and on the outside looking in for the postseason.

Needing a win to ensure a playoff spot in Division IV, Riverside did so in style Friday.

The Rebels shut out Lusher Charter 2-0 in LaPlace for their seventh straight win.

Luke Hymel stole the show, pitching a no-hitter.

Hymel was dominant from start to finish, striking out 14 Lions.

Riverside got the only run it would need in the third inning when Andrew Jung delivered a bases loaded single, scoring Thomas Mazzella to make it 1-0.

The Rebels got an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two-out, RBI single by Kayon Brumfield, scoring Brennan Maus, who had singled to start the inning.

With the win, Riverside (19-12) should be in the top 16 in Division IV, unofficially at No. 15. The Rebels still have a game left, at H.L. Bourgeois today at 1 p.m.

Lusher (20-7) saw its 10-game win streak end. The Lions, who are unofficially 13th in the latest Division II power rankings, will play at East St. John this morning at 11 a.m.
