Baseball: Brother Martin win streak continues, Destrehan evens score with Central Lafourche

Area Prep Baseball Report for Sunday, April 3

Brother Martin remained red hot Saturday, defeating a good St. Charles Catholic team 8-2 in LaPlace.

It was the ninth straight win for the Crusaders.

The outcome was decided quickly as Brother Martin jumped on the Comets for five runs in the top of the first inning. The Crusaders added a run in the top of the fourth to make it 6-0 before St. Charles Catholic scored two in the bottom of the fourth to make it 6-2. Brother Martin closed out the scoring with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth.

Frank Randol led the attack for the Crusaders with three hits and two RBI while Colin Roussel had two hits and two RBI. Louisiana Tech commit Sully Stringer added a pair of hits and Ryan Darrah drove in a run for Brother Martin.

Caden Durand started and picked up the win for Brother Martin, pitching four innings, allowing two runs and struck out two. Alan Mason pitched three shutout innings to finish it for the Crusaders.

Brother Martin (17-4) returns to action Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., opening a two-game Catholic League series at Tiger Park against Holy Cross.

St. Charles Catholic (14-9) will host Berwick Monday at 4 p.m.

In District 7-5A action, Destrehan rebounded from a tough 1-0 loss to Central Lafourche, pounding the Trojans 13-0 at home in a battle for first place in league play.

Noah Simon pitched four hitless innings and walked no one and Simon belted a home run. John Carmichael, Shane Lee and Brady Mire each had a pair of hits for the Wildcats.

In a close race among four teams, Hahnville is 2-0 while Terrebonne is 3-1 in district play.

Destrehan (13-9, 4-1) is scheduled to host East St. John Thursday at 4 p.m. while Central Lafourche (6-18, 3-1) saw its three-game win streak end. The Trojans will host Delcambre Monday at 6 p.m.
