Bonnabel football

Bonnabel is once again searching for a head football coach. B.J. Cohen is apparently out after two years with the Bruins.

The job has been posted by the Jefferson Parish Public School System and members of the staff can re-apply for the head coaching position.

Bonnabel posted a 7-14 record over the last two seasons.

The Bruins went 4-7 this past season, making the Select Division I playoffs, losing to Alexandria 58-9 in the opening round. It was the first playoff appearance in 18 seasons for Bonnabel.

Cohen was told that his contract was not being renewed.

“We just finished spring practice and it was encouraging,” Cohen said. “I’ve been told I can re-apply, though I do not know if makes sense to re-apply for a job I had previously. We have kids going to the next level at Grambling, Nicholls, East Mississippi Community College and others with opportunities. We have definitely made good progress. I hope it continues.”

The coaching change continues a pattern.

Bonnabel has had 12 head coaches since it began playing football in the early 1970’s. Now, it appears that number will grow to 13 as the school continues to search for the stability it has enjoyed in basketball.
