Archbishop Shaw unable to overcome Thomas Jefferson Academy’s late-game surge

Thomas Jefferson Academy snatched the lead late in their 3-1 victory over Archbishop Shaw Eagles on Tuesday. The game was tied at one in the top of the seventh when Anthony Rivera singled, scoring two runs.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Thomas JeffersonAcademy pitchers struck out three, while Archbishop Shaw Eagles sat down nine.

Archbishop Shaw Eagles were the first to get on the board in the third when Dalton Davidson hit a solo home run to right field.

Thomas Jefferson Academy took the lead, 3-1, in the top of the seventh thanks to singles by Kasen Rich, and Rivera.

Jared Carmadelle earned the win for Thomas Jefferson Academy. They allowed six hits and one run over six innings, striking out three and walking two.

Wes Perque took the loss for Archbishop Shaw Eagles. The starting pitcher went seven innings, surrendering three runs on six hits, striking out nine and walking three.

Rivera led Thomas Jefferson Academy with two runs batted in and came in to complete the save to seal the win for the Jaguars. The second baseman went 3-for-4 on the day. Davidson went 4-for-4 at the plate as the first baseman led the team with one RBI.
