Archbishop Shaw names Chad Foret as varsity baseball head coach for 2022-23 school year

The following announcement Tuesday was sent out by Archbishop Shaw leadership:

Archbishop Shaw High School Community,

After a thorough interview process with many accomplished and deserving candidates, the Archbishop Shaw High School Leadership team would like to formally announce that Mr. Chad Foret will be taking over as the Head Baseball Coach at Archbishop Shaw following this season.

Coach Foret is a proud alum of the Archbishop Shaw Class of 1995. While attending Shaw, he proudly played on the baseball team for four years, three under Coach Pat O’Shea and his senior year under Coach David Baudry. After graduating, Coach Foret played multiple years under Coach Joe Schuermann at Delgado Community College.

Coach Foret is in his fifth season coaching with the Eagles and currently serves as the Assistant Varsity Coach and Head Junior Varsity Coach.

When asked what it means to be named the Archbishop Shaw Head Baseball Coach and to be taking over for Coach Doug Faust, Coach Foret responded, “It has always been a goal of mine, as an alum, to come home and coach here at Shaw. But to be the Head Coach is a dream come true. The opportunity to be an assistant coach under Coach Faust has taught me so many things between the white lines. He not only teaches his players, but his coaches as well, the importance of culture and character in your program. He instilled in me the desire to do my very best to help guide each player to have the best high school experience possible on and off the field.”

Coach Foret’s message to the Shaw community is that “Culture and Character will remain a major focal point in the Archbishop Shaw Baseball program. I believe that this will lead to success on the field and more importantly off the field. Baseball is a tool that we use to help us prepare for the challenges that life has in store for us. Competing and learning from our successes and failures will make us better citizens in the community, brothers with your teammates, and eventually husbands and fathers for their families. Coach Faust has shown that the winning ways of the past is still very possible here at Shaw. We will strive to always play hard and tough like Shaw Eagles should and our players and coaches thank you for your continued support of our program.”

The Archbishop Shaw Administration, Faculty, and Staff congratulates Coach Chad Foret and wish him the best in this new adventure.
