Four NOLA area QBs honored as Quarterbacks of the Week; fans can vote for favorite on Twitter

NEW ORLEANS – The Allstate Sugar Bowl has announced this week’s Manning Award Futures – four local high school quarterbacks who turned in outstanding performances on the football field this past weekend. Fans now have the opportunity to go to Twitter (@SugarBowlNola) to vote for their favorite performance of the week.

The Manning Award, which recognizes the top collegiate quarterback in the nation on an annual basis, was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.

Manning Award Futures – High School QBs of the Week, 11/1/21:

Luke Guidry, Slidell High School (14-of-22, 268 total yards, 2 TDs)

Guidry, who threw for 218 yards and ran for 49 yards, led the Tigers to a 34-6 District 6-5A victory over Fontainebleau at Titan Coliseum on Thursday.

Arch Manning, Isidore Newman School (9-of-9, 156 total yards, 5 TDs)

Manning, who only plays in the first half, has a near-perfect game as he helps the Greenies snap a two-game losing streak with a 34-0 victory over Cohen in District 11-2A action.

Jaden McCall, Lakeshore High School (10-of-18, 281 total yards, 3 TDs)

McCall, who passed for 254 yards and rushed for 26 yards, threw TD strikes of 80, 34 and 17 yards to lead the Titans to 50 unanswered points as they rolled to a District 9-4A win over Pearl River, 50-10.

D’Wanye’ Winfield, Lutcher High School (8-of-11, 388 total yards, 6 TDs)

In a 49-22 District 9-3A win over Donaldsonville, Winfield ran for 309 yards and passed for another 79 while accounting for six total touchdowns.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl has established itself as one of the premier college football bowl games, having hosted 28 national champions, 99 Hall of Fame players, 51 Hall of Fame coaches and 19 Heisman Trophy winners in its 87-year history. The 88th Allstate Sugar Bowl Football Classic, which will feature top teams from the Big 12 and the SEC, is scheduled to be played on January 1, 2022. In addition to football, the Sugar Bowl Committee annually invests over $1 million into the community through the hosting and sponsorship of sporting events, awards, scholarships and clinics.
