HAMMOND, La. – Hayden Robb tossed six innings of one-run ball while Ryan Brome homered and drove in four Wednesday as the Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team defeated Alcorn State, 9-1, in non-conference action at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

In his longest outing of the season, Robb (3-2) limited the Braves (2-33) to five hits and did not walk a batter, striking out six on his way to earning the win for Southeastern (21-19).

Brome picked up RBIs in three separate innings, launching a two-run blast in the eighth for his third homer of the season.

Southeastern scored in each of the first three innings, jumping out to a 5-0 lead over the Braves.

Jake Killingsworth (single) and Dom Regira (fielder’s choice) plated runs in the first. Brome (sac fly) and Shea Thomas (single) picked up RBIs in the second.

TJ Salvaggio manufactured the third-inning run all by himself. After being hit by a pitch, he advanced to second base on an errant pickoff attempt. He then stole third base, scoring on a throwing error by the catcher.

Alcorn picked up its lone run in the fifth. After a one-out triple, the Braves’ designated hitter scored on a sacrifice bunt.

A pair of doubles by Cole Stromboe and Brome added a run to the SLU lead in the sixth.

Brome homered following a leadoff walk in the eighth. Thomas scored the Lions’ final run after Killingsworth got caught in a rundown attempting to stretch a single into a double.

Thomas (3-for-4), Brome (2-for-4), Killingsworth (2-for-5) and Bailyn Sorensen (2-for-3) all turned in multi-hit performances for SLU.
