If you look back through LSU’s history of great ball carriers, you’ll quickly recognize how many hailed from Louisiana: Kevin Faulk, Leonard Fournette, Dalton Hilliard, Derrius Guice, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Jeremy Hill, and Tyrion Davis-Price. The Boot is fertile soil for talented players.

The 2025 recruiting class features an abundance of talent at running back, and Tigers head coach Brian Kelly has done his due diligence to ensure that this talent stays at home. The latest example came Saturday when LSU secured its 12th commitment for the 2025 class with the pledge of J.T. Lindsey, a super-talented back from Alexandria Senior High School.

To illustrate the depth of talent in the state for the upcoming signing period, Lindsey is ranked as the third best back in the state for this class but 11th overall in the nation at the position. LSU commit Harlem Berry out of St. Martin’s Episcopal in Metairie is the top running back in the country. Additionally, LSU target James Simon (Calvary) is ranked second in the state and seventh nationally.

In any other normal recruiting cycle, Lindsey most likely would have been recognized as the best runner in the state, but this year’s competition is way above average.

In addition to LSU, Lindsey considered offers from Northwestern, California, Pittsburgh, Houston, Mississippi State, UNLV, Charlotte, UTSA, Vanderbilt, Arkansas State, Memphis, UL, ULM, and Louisiana Tech. He narrowed his final choices down to LSU, Northwestern, Pitt, and Houston.

Lindsey’s recruiting has seen a meteoric rise of late and he recently received an offer from LSU, his admitted “dream school.”

At 5’11” and 185 pounds with a 4.48 time in the 40-yard dash and 10.85 in the 100 meters, Lindsey is classified as a game-changer. He tallied 1,729 rushing yards with 26 touchdowns last season while also featuring as a return specialist. Not only does he possess big-play potential, but Lindsey also has electric feet, is a creative runner, eludes initial tacklers and plays bigger than his size with a frame capable of adding weight and strength. He has quick start-and-stop skills.

The future looks bright for LSU in the running game with quality recruits to run the ball and to block for ball carriers.
