LSU football: Tiger Stadium

Former LSU football players have landed new homes recently.

Jo Cryer, a 3-star signee, arrived in time at LSU for this year’s spring drills but found himself as the second team guard. He decided to seek greener pastures and has landed at Southern Miss.

A 2023 signee, former 4-star linebacker Christian Braithwaite, left following spring drills and found a home with Willie Fritz and the Houston Cougars. He redshirted in 2023, playing in 5 games for the Tigers and collecting 3 tackles.

Jeremiah Hughes, a former 3-star cornerback from Las Vegas, played in 13 games last season but just 24 snaps spent in the secondary with 181 others on special teams. He is now on the open market.

Hope was high that he could advance in year two, but during spring drills, Hughes found himself behind fellow 2023 recruits Ashton Stamps and Javien Toviano. Also, a pair of Ohio State imports, Jyaire Brown and J.K. Johnson, had priority over him on the depth chart.

Hughes has already visited UCLA, is now on campus at Colorado, and plans to visit Washington.

As far as potential transfers coming into the program, the Tigers are attempting to reel in DaShawn Jones, a cornerback from Wake Forest, for a visit. The 6’0, 180-pounder from Baltimore, Maryland, played in 10 contests in ’23, producing 37 tackles, a pair of passes broken up and 3 interceptions for the Demon Deacons. He also played in 12 games in 2022 after redshirting the previous season.

LSU’s top two defensive tackle targets are off the market. TCU’s Damonic Williams headed to Oklahoma and Michigan State’s Simeon Barrow committed to Miami. Now, it seems highly likely the Tigers will enter the ’24 campaign with what they currently have on the roster.

To supplement the tackle spot, LSU will most likely utilize Bradyn Swinson and Paris Shand, a pair of defensive ends, as depth inside. Also, expect Wisconsin transfer Gio Paez and 2024 signee Dominick McKinley to be worked into the rotation quickly.

LSU currently has 12 pledges for the 2025 cycle, with only three on the offensive line. Here are a few names as prime targets with mutual onterest:

— No. 6 rated tackle Lamont Rogers (6’7″, 305), 4-star prospect from Mesquite, Texas, has LSU as a heavy favorite over Oklahoma and Texas.

— Micah DeBose (6’5″, 315), a 4-star and 8th-ranked tackle from Mobile, Alabama. The Tigers have a commanding lead.

— Carius Curne (6’4″, 301), a 4-star tackle from Marion, Arkansas, has LSU as a current firm favorite.

— The 4th overall rated tackle in the class, Michael Fasusi (6’5″, 315) from Lewisville, Texas, is set to hit the LSU campus on May 22. He is a 5-star prospect.

— Tackle Peyton Joseph (6’3″, 310) from Warner Robins, Georgia, is another 4-star who also has a great relationship with LSU.

— Meanwhile, defensive end Corey Adams (6’4″, 250) from Edna Karr is the second ranked defensive lineman in the Pelican State. LSU is in really good shape, especially with Bo Davis on the assignment.
