KENNER – Unbeatens were the top four seeds in the LHSAA girls bowling playoffs. Three remain.

Defending champion Dutchtown, Albany and Archbishop Chapelle – the Nos. 2-4 seeds, respectively – all won two matches Wednesday to advance to next week’s state semifinals, while No. 9 seed Patrick Taylor knocked off top-seeded H.L. Bourgeois to reach the semis for the first time.

Much like the two boys brackets, there will be an all-New Orleans region semifinal when Chapelle faces Patrick Taylor. Dutchtown and Albany will face off in the other semi.

The Chipmunks (14-0), who lost only 22 of a possible 324 points in the regular season, kept up that domination through the first stage of the playoffs, including a 23-4 victory over St. Scholastica Academy in the second round.

Despite using its entire roster, Chapelle fired a 3,070 team series, led by Taylor Bourdonnay’s back-to-back 247 games. Elizabeth Hamilton had games of 232 and 209.

Gabby Falkenstein’s 477 series lead SSA (10-4).

Despite being the lower seed, Patrick Taylor had a 43-pin edge in season averages over H.L. Bourgeois among its top three bowlers. The Tigers claimed seven of nine matches on the right pair.

Gabrielle Viviano’s 494 series led Patrick Taylor (10-2), which joins Albany as the only schools to send its boys and girls teams to the semifinals.

The Chapelle-Patrick Taylor semi is a rematch of a Jan. 29 matchup won by the Chips, 25-2.

The most competitive second-round match was Dutchtown’s 16-11 victory over St. Joseph’s Academy, which featured a highly touted showdown at the anchor spots between the Lady Griffs’ Sydney Lee, the defending state singles champion, and SJA’s Jordan Wingerter.

Wingerter took two points on games of 215 and 255 and finished with a 651 series, but Lee won the match and the series with a 707, including a final-game 264.

Albany defeated Central Lafourche 22-5 in its second-round match. The Rockets were led by Caroline Engeron’s 654 series on games of 214-216-224.

In the opening round, Chapelle swept the first game and cruised to a 24½-2½ victory over No. 13 seed Airline. Olivia Bares led the first-game charge with a 220 and Hamilton had a middle-game 250 as the Chipmunks clinched the match in two games.

Patrick Taylor cruised to a 25-2 opening-round victory over eighth-seeded Alexandria. Addison Tran had a consistent 612 series on games of 200-207-205 to lead the Tigers.

SSA, which competes in the Hammond region, swept the first two games in a 26-1 victory over Captain Shreve. Mia Medina’s 553 series led the Doves.

The third New Orleans region team to reach the playoffs, two-time state champ and No. 14 seed Academy of Our Lady, lost 22-5 in the opening round to Albany despite a 2,653 team series. Emily Barrios led the Penguins with a 559 series. Engeron had a 654 series to lead Albany.

The semifinals and finals in all three brackets – girls and boys/co-ed Divisions I and II – are April 3-4 at Premier Lanes in Gonzales. Of the 12 teams to reach the semis, seven are from the New Orleans area. Joining Patrick Taylor’s two teams and Chapelle in the semis are boys teams from Archbishop Rummel, Archbishop Shaw, Brother Martin and Slidell.
