It was a great matchup featuring two of the top pitchers in the state. It did not disappoint.

Oklahoma signee Corey Cousin and Chalmette’s Bryce Wilson performed brilliantly.

Cousin allowed just two hits, walked three and struck out nine, using 105 pitches in going the distance for the win.

The Tigers (21-11) got their lone run in the top of the fifth inning as Cory Rushing reached on an error which would prove costly. Cousin singled and Brady Johnson singled home Rushing to provide the margin of victory.

Troy Green had two hits for Slidell.

Wilson was outstanding in a losing cause, allowing just the unearned run on six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts, using 92 pitches. Jaden Williams had a double for the Owls (28-6).

So far, the trip was worth it.
