NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women’s basketball team will be hosting their annual Education Day on Dec. 18 when they welcome Tarleton State to the Lakefront Arena. The game tips at 11 a.m. and will have activities preceding.

All students in sixth grade and below are invited to attend and partake in a day of fun activities and basketball. Below is the timeline of events for the day.

“We’re excited to welcome our youth and educational leaders in New Orleans for our women’s basketball education day,” said Kim Gallow, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Sports Administration and Senior Woman Administrator. “We hope to further educate our youth on the opportunities that our university brings while providing a great game day experience.”

The following is the Education Day agenda for 2023:

-9:00 a.m. Students arrive at Lakefront Arena greeted by student-athletes, cheerleaders and Bruno, our mascot.
-9:45 a.m. Students will participate in educational activities with learning outcomes in math, problem solving, creative thinking, and geography.
-10:30 a.m. Students will receive a complimentary lunch.
-11:00 a.m. Game starts & select students will participate in on-court promotions/games.

Education Day was instituted at New Orleans in 2019 as a way to connect with youth from local schools. The first season saw not only a 60-point win, but a women’s basketball attendance record.
