NORMAN, Okla. – The New Orleans Privateers came out aggressive early and took advantage of some Oklahoma Sooners miscues in an 11-5 win on Sunday afternoon a L. Dale Mitchell Park.

The win moved the Privateers to 4-2 against their two Big 12 opponents this season and was the first three-game series victory over the Sooners in four career series against the Norman-based school.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Privateers got out to a great start, plating three runs in the opening frame. Anthony Herron Jr. had a sac fly and got a bonus when a ball was dropped in right field, allowing a second run to score. An ensuing RBI groundout put the score at 3-0 before the Sooners got a turn at-bat.

Collin Horton kept Oklahoma off the board until the fourth inning as the Privateers extended their lead to 6-0 at one point. However, the Sooners got a run back in the fourth and another in the fifth to trim the Privateer lead to 6-2.

In the seventh, the Privateers were leading 7-3 but the Sooners got the first two men on base. The bullpen pieced it together and kept the Sooners from cutting into the lead. Kyle Khachadourian induced a groundout off the bat of Blake Robertson. Then, Andrew Duran entered and got Tanner Tredaway to fly out on the first pitch.

From there, the Privateers put the game out of reach with a four-run eighth inning. That included Tyler Bischke’s first homer as a Privateer, one that he launched to left-center off of Javier Ramos.

Oklahoma threatened a big inning and got two runs in with two outs on a Sebastian Orduno double. That’s when Tod Gauthe caught Blake Robertson looking with the bases loaded to avoid any further damage on the scoreboard.

INSIDE THE BOX
Pearce Howard capped off a strong week at the plate by going 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs. Howard went 10-for-15 over four games on the week. Amani Larry went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Herron drove in three runs and Issac Williams went 2-for-5 with three runs. Bischke finished 2-for-4 with two runs.

Horton went five innings and struck out four batters to move to 2-0 on the season.
