BILOXI, Miss. – The New Orleans Privateers limited Mississippi State to just one run through 10 innings but the Bulldogs punched across the game-winning RBI single in the 11th for a 2-1 victory Wednesday evening at Shuckers Ballpark.

Mississippi State loaded the bases on three consecutive singles, the last of which was a bunt hit by Logan Kohler. That set the stage for pinch hitter, Aaron Downs who singled past a drawn in Privateer infield to walk off the Bulldogs’ 13th win of the season.

Pitching and defense was the name of the game up until that point. Cortez Dennis got the start and limited the Bulldogs to one run over five innings. The one was a solo homer by Nolan Stevens that put the Bulldogs on top 1-0.

New Orleans came back to tie it in the fifth. After Collin Loupe got a double to left, he was brought in by Alexander Saunier. A ground ball behind the mound resulted in a throwing error that scored Loupe from second to tie the game at 1-1.

The Privateers looked poised to go ahead in the 10th inning after the combination of Ryan Delorbe and Nathan Blasick continued to hold the Bulldogs bats silent from the sixth through the ninth inning.

Loupe hit a double down the right field line but was thrown out trying to go for third. The Bulldogs got another out on the base paths on a pick-off of Issac Williams by eventual winning pitcher, Came Schuelke.

INSIDE THE BOX
The Privateers held Mississippi State to four hits through the first 10 innings. Loupe went 2-for-4 with a double. Miguel Useche had his second triple in the last three games. Kyrin Tyson-Long continues to remain unblemished on the season as he pitched a scoreless 10th inning. The Privateers turned three double plays in the field.

Colby Holcombe threw four shutout innings in relief and struck out seven batters. Dakota Jordan was 1-for-3 on the night.
