NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers unveiled a retro jersey auction for the upcoming 2024 season. The baseball squad will wear uniforms that are replicas of the 1974 and 1984 teams that were responsible for both College World Series berths in program history.

2024 will mark the 50th anniversary of the 1974 team which finished as the Division II runner-up. It will also be the 40th anniversary of the 1984 squad which became the first in the state of Louisiana to make it to Omaha.

The jerseys will be worn during the Memphis series. A total of 40 jerseys will be auctioned off and the winners will be announced that weekend.

Bidding for each jersey starts on Jan. 2 at 12 a.m. and the site is live and available by clicking the link here.

The 1974 team went 34-14 in Ron Maestri’s third season at the helm and made it to Springfield, Ill. where they won four games before being defeated by national champion, UC Irvine. Terry Kieffer won the James J. Corbett Award as the most outstanding male amateur athlete in Louisiana after winning a program record 15 games that season.

In 1984, the Privateers finished 46-26 and beat a vaunted Mississippi State squad to advance to the College World Series that season. Wally Whitehurst tied Kieffer’s single season program record for wins and Mark Higgins hit 24 home runs, which still stands as a program mark today. The Privateers picked up a win against Michigan in their Omaha stay.
