RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech defeated Southeastern Wednesday night 13-1 using a strong bullpen presence and two big innings at the plate.

LA Tech (8-5) jumped out to an early lead plating five runs in the first inning. Philip Matulia and Taylor Young recorded the only two hits in the inning both collecting RBI singles.

Southeastern (5-8) answered back in the second scoring one run on a sacrifice fly from Connor Manola.

The Bulldog bullpen was outstanding in the win. Anthony Giannette, Jackson Lancaster and Greg Martinez combined for the final six innings of work. The three arms did not allow a hit or a walk and struck out seven Lion batters.

The Bulldogs continued to tack on runs in the eighth. Steele Netterville delivered an RBI single through the right side. Jorge Corona followed up with an RBI knock through the left side. Walker Burchfield lined a double down the right field line to extend the lead, 10-1. Wade Elliott finished off the scoring with a rope over the shortstops head scoring two more.

QUOTABLES
Head Coach Lane Burroughs

“We have won three of four and those three wins we have scored double-digit runs and our hitters are starting to come around. It was not only good to swing the bat good, but to draw some walks and had some tough at-bats. We ran the bases really well. We defended really well. We pitched lights out. I just told our team, if you play like you did tonight, you won’t lose many games.”

“We’ve got one more weekend until conference play so we are navigating towards that. We have a hot Houston Baptist team coming in. They took three of four from Sacremento State last weekend and I know they beat Lamar today. We will practice tomorrow, briefly. We will get in the weight room and will come out Friday ready to go.”
