NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane baseball team won its sixth consecutive game Wednesday evening with a 9-4 triumph over visiting Grambling State on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

The Green Wave is now 9-4 overall, while the Tigers dropped to 2-9.

Tulane center fielder Teo Banks and third baseman Gavin Schulz each homered for the Olive and Blue, while second baseman Connor Rasmussen and left fielder Jackson Linn each went 2-for-3.

Grambling catcher Demarckus Smiley knocked in two runs without the benefit of a hit (sacrifice fly, groundout).

The Wave’s Billy Price (2-0) was credited with the win. The reliever allowed one run on two hits with a strikeout and walk. Tayler Montiel picked up his first save, yielding just a hit over the game’s final two innings, whiffing two additional batters.

Grambling starter Carlos Peguero (0-3) allowed four runs on five hits to go with two strikeouts and three walks in a losing effort.

The Schulz homer was a solo shot in the third inning, while Banks went deep with a two-run blast to left center in the sixth.

Schulz also stole two bases as well.

The Green Wave will now head to ULL for a three-game set that will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday. Saturday’s game will start at 2, while Sunday’s finale is scheduled for 1. The Ragin’ Cajuns picked up a 3-0 road victory at Northwestern State Wednesday evening to run their record to 6-6 overall.
