NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane Green Wave baseball team will put its 5-0 record on the line this weekend when they host the tenth-ranked Ole Miss Rebels for a three-game series beginning Friday at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

The series kicks off Friday at 6:30 p.m. in New Orleans, with Saturday’s game set for a 2 p.m. first pitch and Sunday’s finale set for 1 p.m.

Fans coming to Friday’s game will be able to pick up a “Roll Wave” rally towel to cheer on the team throughout the weekend. Before Saturday’s game sitting on the concourse just outside of the stadium will be a New Orleans street car, with other New Orleans and Mardi Gras themed items in and around Turchin that day.

Tulane has begun a season 5-0 for the first time in five seasons after pulling off the midweek sweep of the Lamar Cardinals on Tuesday and Wednesday, earning a 9-1 and 22-10 win in the two games. Through five games Tulane is batting .328 with 57 runs scored.

Junior Kody Hoese leads the team with a .520 batting average, 1.040 slugging percentage and 13 hits so far this season, as on Wednesday he tied the school record for home runs in a single game with three.

The pitching staff has jumped out of the gate in a strong way, holding opponents to a .210 batting average so far, striking out 45 and walking just 24. The staff got a strong outing from Josh Bates, while Trent Johnson, Justin Campbell and Robert Price had solid innings in relief over the course of the two games.

The series against the Rebels dates back to the very beginning of the program, with the first meeting between the two sides coming in 1898. Tulane will be looking for its first win over the Rebels since 2014, as Ole Miss swept last year’s series in Oxford.

Ole Miss comes into the game 2-1 overall, splitting their opening two games against Wright State last weekend, while earning a 15-3 win over Arkansas State on Wednesday.
