NEW ORLEANS – Tulane starting pitcher Will Clements led a quartet of Green Wave hurlers in a six-hit combined shutout of visiting Yale Sunday afternoon on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

The victory gave the Olive and Blue its first home sweep in two seasons and improved the team’s record to 7-4 overall. The Bulldogs dropped to 0-6.

Clements (1-0) tossed six innings and gave up just four hits with five strikeouts. Henry Shuffler, Logan Hurd and Trey Cehajic surrendered just two hits the rest of the way.

The Green Wave did not walk a batter during the course of the game and had just one hit by pitch.

Yale starter Reid Easterly (0-2) pitched effectively for the visitors, allowing three runs on six hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

Tulane catcher Colin Tuft batted leadoff for the first time in 2024 and responded with a 2-for-4 effort.

Yale designated hitter Chace Chaplin went 3-for-4.

The Green Wave got three of its four RBI in the bottom of the fourth, courtesy of back-to-back-to-back hits by second baseman Connor Rasmussen, designated hitter Nathan Rose and right fielder Brock Slaton.

First baseman Brady Marget knocked in the fourth with a single to right in the bottom of the eighth.

The Green Wave will play its first road game of the season on Tuesday when it visits Nicholls for a 6 p.m. affair. The Colonels, who dropped a 3-2 tilt in New Orleans on February 20, have swept all three weekend home series with Sacred Heart, Eastern Illinois and Southern.
