Tiger Woods Takes 74th Title, Passes Nicklaus On All-Time Wins List

There is one thing Tiger Woods is doing and that is learning how to win again.

After 2 and ½ years without a win, Tiger’s triumph at the AT&T National at Congressional, site of the 2011 U.S. Open, is his third of the year. No one else on the PGA Tour has three victories this year.

Speaking of history, it was an odd Saturday in Tour lore. The day before, due to severe storms knocking down trees, gallery and volunteers were not allowed on the course. This is the first time in the history of the PGA Tour this has taken place.

Woods closed Sunday with a 69, at one stretch going 41 holes without a bogey, to finish at 8-under par to edge out Bo Van Pelt by two strokes. Tiger is now poised to take solid aim at the top ranking in the world with two majors remaining, the Open (British) and the PGA. Woods’ making it all the way back to the top would rank as perhaps the finest comeback in the history of the game.
